Environmentalists and energy companies push carbon pricing to short-circuit Trump

Washington, D.C. may soon upset the table on New York's green agenda—but the renewable energy advocates say they're holding a trump card.

Many observers expect the White House-controlled Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to slap down the Empire State's program of subsidizing wind, solar and other low- or no-emissions power sources. But a coalition of environmental groups and green energy firms argue that Albany can still achieve its plans to radically slash emissions by mid-century by imposing a tax on carbon.
