Carbon Free NY Applauds the Climate Action Council for Completing its Draft Scoping Plan
Carbon Free New York (CFNY) applauds the Climate Action Council for completing its Draft Scoping Plan, outlining its initial recommendations for achieving New York’s nation-leading emission-reduction goals. We look forward to working with the Council and its stakeholders throughout 2022 to capture the benefits of pricing carbon in New York’s electricity markets in the final Scoping Plan, due in January 2023.
Establishing a social cost of carbon in New York’s energy market is crucial for New York to advance its decarbonization and clean energy goals faster and more cost-effectively, while also reducing emissions and improving public health.
CFNY looks forward to working with the Climate Action Council and Governor Kathy Hochul to ensure these critically important goals are realized for a cleaner, stronger New York.
