Statement On State Approval Of ZEC Extension Implementation Plan
"This is a great moment for New York's clean energy future and economy. The Public Service Commission approved the final implementation plan for the Zero Emissions Credit program, which will secure our current nuclear fleet through 2049. Ginna, Nine Mile Point, and FitzPatrick power nearly half the state's carbon free electricity, and will save New Yorkers $1.7 billion a year in electricity costs and support 14,400 good paying jobs.
"We're grateful to Governor Hochul, Chair Christian, and DPS staff, for their recognition of the valuable role of the existing nuclear fleet. Nuclear is the backbone of upstate New York economies and is integral to our path to 100% clean energy. With this plan, we're now one step closer."
